With a large-breed dog like a Lab, you need to make sure he's getting out to run, or at least walk a good distance every day. I know my dog, who's a smaller breed, also seems to be happier when he gets to play with other dogs.
If you still have concerns, you should discuss this with your vet.

Even if I dont get to exercise with her, I typically play with her, even if I dont use toys, but I also teach her limits on fighting so that she knows when it gets to be too much, but I think she knows I am only playing with her. In puppies, they might be more active, but usually as they get older and adapt to your lifestyle, they will settle down a little, but might get anxious at times especially if they havent seen you for a certain amount of time. But dogs are like humans, at some point they cant stand the weather. Usually the norm for bringing dogs in is around the 40 degree mark, which is the norm for short haired pets. Dont leave him out in the freezing temperatures. Its the same as a heatwave, dogs can suffocate in harsh conditions when exposed too long. If your dog is showing signs of depression, it means he is not happy with something you are doing with him.

If he's still a pup try crate training him. This is only used when your not home or he needs a time out. If you decide crate training put him in there and leave him there for a while he'll bark like crazy. it happened to me even when I just moved his crate to another room. I when out for an hour or so and when I came back he was settled. Labs also need lots of excersice. take him to a leash free park. He also need attention/affection kinda like a wive or girlfriend.

dogs are a mans best friend with unconditional love for their owner. don't beat your dog give them lots of treats, toy and affection. if your dog is happy at the end of the day when you get home, (meaning he or she greets you with a waging tail) then your dog loves you and is happy. also they calm down as they get older the only reason he recks the place when you let him in is because thats a treat to be in the house if he was in the house everyday it wouldn't seem like a treat and he wouldn't get so excited and reck the place.

rain, snow, sunny take your dog out and play with him just kinda get him excited and get like a tug and war toy and a tennis ball and some room. alow like 2 or 3 hours after that he'll be happy and fall right alseep. this is also good with gaining a good relationship with him.

Labs are very affectionate and need lots of attention. Try walking, or playing with him outside. Maybe another to keep him company.

Teach him that you're the boss, or give him a job outside. He's probably lonely. Go play fetch or frisbee and make sure that he has a way to constructively occupy his time, or you could get him a friend!
