I have black/dark brown hair and I want to get rid of my chesnut colour highlights. I tried dying it a dark brown colour a couple of months ago and now my highlights have come through. I don't want to dye my hair black as I think it looks to harsh. I want to dye my hair a dark brown. Any ideas anyone to get of my highlights?

Well if you have highlights and you want darker hair your going to have to keep dyeing it until the highlights grow out. Thats what I did. I had blonde highlights for years and I didnt want them anymore so I dyed my hair dark brown. It worked but the blond started to come through again. I just waited till it grew out. People always asked me....did you dye your hair?? I''m like noooo my natural color is just coming through lol.

Go to the hairdressers and have your hair stripped, then re-dyed dont try it at home your just going to ruin your hair, It will be bad for your hair any way to have it stripped but that is the only way you will get rid of the highlights. putting dye over the top wont get rid of them.

there is only one sure fire way of getting rid of your highlights and that is to grow them out
my other suggestion would have been to dye your hair a similar colour to your natural colour but you have tried that, maybe try getting a better brand

You will have to wait for them to grow out to get rid of them completely - you can keep dying your hair but it sounds like it washes you. You could go to the hairdresser and ask their advice... Good luck.

i think you can go to hairdressers and have your hair stripped of its colour ie; your highlights. then starting a fresh with a darl borwn colour.

I would suggest asking a hairdresser, maybe they could strip the color off of your hair
