My female cat is pregnant and her nipples are visible and I noticed that there was space on one side where the other nipple supposed to be. She has 5 on one side and 4 on the other. Is this a deformity and if it is, are there other deformities that go with it that I should worry about?

"Are you so bored that you sit around counting nipples?"

Right, I just got bored one day and thought hey why don't I count nipples today!

No, I was petting her fat belly and just noticed she had 9. I thought cat's had the standard 8 like we humans only have two. And after reading an article about common signs of possible deformed offsprings (like the dot on the forehead of a persian cat is a sign of a bad gene) I got worried so I asked.

Secondly, I found her by a dumpster at burger king. I just didn't get her spaid soon enough. I know plenty of people that want to adopt her kitties right away so taking them to the shelter is out of the question. And yes I plan to have her spaid at the SPCA after she weans her kittens thank you very much.

If you can easily feel her nipples, then she is very likely pregnant given that she was recently around a tom. At nine months, she is really too young to safely have a litter. I would call your vet or the local ASPCA and see if you can arrange for an emergency spay

I wouldn't think it's a problem. My cat has 7 nipples and managed to raise three litters before she was altered. As long as your cat doesn't have more kittens than nipples I wouldn't worry.

ha ha ha... yes, it is a birth defect. My MALE cat has two nipples where one ought to be. So... he has 9 tiny little buds - never worries im and never worried me. By the way, is your cat's 9th nipple lactating too? Awesome.
