My ex-boyfriend who lives in Australia came over to visit me earlier this month.

I took him out to a few places but when i did he was distant, snidy, rude and nothing like the guy i had been talking to over the internet for the last 2ish years - even when we were simply chilling at my house. In the end we decided to break off, and carry on as friends - no pressure.

I thought that this was a mutual thing because soon he was acting normal and aside from actually being civil, took me out to lunch on the last day of his time over here.

About two days after he got back home, i started to get horrible e-mails off him, he was cruel and rude in the messages, and he even e-mailed my sister!

I eventually told him to grow up and that i never wanted to talk to him again. It all went quite for a while, but then i got a message left at my house saying that a parcel has been dilivered to me. I think its from him but i don't know what to do about this.

Advice on this welcome!

The guy seems as though he can't deal with you two being separate entities, which is a common theme amongst split couples. Getting rude and unkind messages is probably part of the territory when dealing with an ex, but when he e-mails family members it becomes obvious that he's not really able to cope as well as he might have made out before you two met up again.

I always advise about having any sort of a relationship with an ex, because frequently it's the change itself which causes people to freak out, not the reasons for the change (and this is especially true of men!). I suppose the parcel itself is going to be rather harmless - I shouldn't get to paranoid about it if I were you - but it's probably a good time for you to make the last push to distance yourself from him. This could either be through a shockingly honest e-mail, phone call etc., or just buy a sustained period of ignoring him. Pretty useful that he lives in Oz, to be honest!

Good luck breaking it off completely, no matter how hard it is, and make sure you let us know what was in the package - perhaps it's old stuff of yours that he was returning, but no matter - it is rather intriguing!

Chalk it up to experience, and move on. As far as the parcel goes, take it to the post office and have it returned. No reason to open it or worry about it.

We've all experienced poor judgement at one time or another, it sounds like he's very immature, and not someone you need in your life. Good luck.

First check the return address. If it is from him, just return it unopened. If there isn't a return address you could open it and then repackage it if it turns out to be from him. You are right to tell him to grow up and leave you alone. Good luck and God Bless.
