I wouldn't do it just because its very hard to completely sanatize your home.
That and I don't understand why someone who does good art, isn't in a studio or shop?

No way, take my advice, I have been there and done that. I went to a home tattoo party and got pierced he did the piercings first then the tattoos. I got very very ill, research hepatitis c because that's what that bastard gave me. Then on top of all that I couldn't even have any one beat his *** because turns out he's a convicted child molester and raped my future roomate and went to jail for it right after he pierced my tongue. It is a lot cheaper but it's not worth your health. I got hep c when I was 13 and was hospitalized for awhile I'm fine now but when I get older I wont be.
P.S. he worked for a really good shop here and he was a licenced professional and I even watched him take the needle out of the package, come to find out he was re-sealing the needles.

it depends on if they were a respected artist and had their own autoclave and everything was completely clean fresh out the clave when you got there or watch the whole claving process but just because its cheaper and the do good art wont make up the fact that you catch a disease so if he has all the right equipment then fine but otherwise save up the right amount and get it done at a professional shop but there are artists that are friends that have everything together and can do it at home but for the girl who did the party thing at 13 thats your own dumb azz fault for one it was a party and he coulda used two needles to pierce everyone and ink everyone plus he couda just finished a party it was an easy way for a minor to get work and him save money on reusing needles so ALWAYS GO TO A PLACE THAT IS PUBLICLY KNOWN AND HAS A HEALTH CERTIFICATE/AUTOCLAVE IT KILLS EVERYTHING

Yes I would, and I am having it done at the moment. My right arm is being blacked out and I am having it done at a friend's flat. The MAJOR issue is cross contamination. Check that the gun, needles, cord, and surfaces are clean and you are fine. The real reason that so many tattooists are against this sort of thing is that they want to charge £70 per hour. If you are comfortable with the tattooist's work and all the cross contamination risks are addressed then go for it and save some money.

I have a fairly strong opinion on this one. I think it is very unprofessional to carry out any body modification procedure in a home environment. Period. (Especially home tattoo parties!!)
It doesn't matter how clean the artist is and if he/she has an autoclave, proper set-up, etc. It is just plain wrong. Unless it is a licensed business with a separate entry way and has been inspected by the powers that be that contol business licenses of this nature (boards of health, local entities, fire department, etc.) it is just plain wrong.
You have to ask yourself why an artist would work from home rather than in a professional environment. Is the tattooing of substandard nature that they cannot get into a legitimate studio? Do they already work out of a studio but choose to pull clients into their home so they don't have to pay the shop owner their cut? Are they overall, breaking the law??
I would be very skeptical of anyone who chooses this venue to conduct business.

No your asking for infection and maybe more! thats like asking someone to do surgery in your bedroom! Go to a reputable place with proper instruments. An autoclave machine should be present and biohazard containers! Make sure they use surgical soap and alcohol to clean the skin before they tattoo you! There also should be some type of paper work stating they are professional or something from New York state showing their license number and name! Be smart about these things!

Wouldn't base your tattoo experience on whether it's cheaper or not....I personally wouldn't feel comfortable doing that. A person's house that is not solely a tattoo studio is not following cleanliness aspects that a tattoo studio would. Believe it or not, most tattoo studios are cleaner than hospitals once all set up to tattoo...

unless he has been graded as sanitary with an A, then no... that can be really dangerous, even if the needles are packaged... if he doesn't have a place of business, then he does not need to be doing tats... have him draw you up something, then take it to a clean professional... they are handy when they can SEE the art you want...

Cheaper has nothing to do with it.....If the artist uses sterile equipment does the location really matter? I'm going to have work done at a tattoo convention next month, as is my wife and daughter.....Wouldn't you think all the people standing around watching (coughing and breathing)...were unsanitary....Should I be worried?

No way! Why don't you just have your friend draw your tattoooo and then take it to a local tatto place. They can trace it so it can be exactly like your friends. Also if you have a home tatto you can have serious health problems. you want someone who can be held responsible if something were to go wrong.
