This friend spends a lot of his money for all the expenses for a bus three times a week traveling several miles each week taking kids and adults to church.
Recently a new family was invited to ride and they literally destroyed several seats by cutting and graffiti and was a total embarrassment in church services.
My friend asked the offenders to pay for damages (which they laughed in his face) and advised them he would not pick them up anymore.
Is there a better solution to this?

Contact the police, get the witnesses that saw them do the damage, file vandalism charges, get a lawyer and sue for damages. Some people can't accept the kindness shown them and need to experience the consequences.

Great Avatar Creator,
If they are still attending the services then a number of the members should get together and individually speak with them about it. There are times when a group of people will have more effect than a single person, especially if he was as aggravated as I would have ben over this event. He certainly has a right to have this fixed. If nothing else, the church members should get together and assist him in getting it fixed and decide what they should do to help him with his continuing expenses and time. He sounds like a wonderful man that does not deserve to be treated by this manner by anyone at all. One great thing to do would that you and a number of other members might take turns sending him post-a-notes of cheer and encouragement. This certainly does help to pick a person up once a week when you are feeling rough. I hope that you are able to find an answer that helps in this matter. Have a great week.

There's nothing wrong in wanting to sue these people for destroying an equipment used for church purposes.

So, if you are wondering if God permits you to sue, I believe the answer is yes.

But, then again, you want them to believe and not scare them away right? And you want them to repent of their wrong doing. So, the best way is to tell the preacher to give a sermon on the case and gently chastise them across the pulpit for the 1st round. If they stop going to church, sue them straight as a civil case. If they continue to come, preach a second time sometime later. In the meantime, get your friend to repair the damages himself and keep the receipt.

If they repent or get better, the money is well spent. Don't bother getting it back. If they don't, well, go ahead. Engage a lawyer.

You decide.

Your Friend should take this to the Church Committee. It sounds
as if this might be a small church, but they should still be helping
your friend with his effort in bringing people to the Church. First, the Church may have the funds to help pay for repairs. Secondly they could take up a donation to help pay for it. The man should also keep watch that the people don't try to do more damage. they sound like a dreadful bunch. His auto Insurance may be
of some help too. Good luck to your Friend.

Jesus said turn the other cheek. He also said it's a blessing when people do nasty things to you for His name's sake.

So they trashed Jesus' bus. Embarrased everyone in church. And your friend is out a bunch of money for the damages. Those are all material things that won't matter at all in 5 years.

Maybe this is a message from God to start working in your community - to build relationships so people won't be looking to trash your stuff.

IF they can prove that they were the one's who did that damage, file a police report against them and charges of destruction. What they did is a crime.

It is hard when something like this happens because we want to show Christ's love to everyone, including those who do things they should not- however, if you witnessed them doing it they need to be held accountable.
