Help! My cat has been ill for 3 days and the vet doesn't know what's wrong with him.?

He's been vomitting many times a day and has not been eating. After the 2nd day, he started drinking water so that's a partial sigh of relief. However, since he hasn't been taking in any food, he's just been vomitting saliva.

He's been to the vet and they don't know what's wrong. They gave him a jab and some medication but it doesn't seem to be working.

Please... Could any of you suggest a reason or a remedy? My cat's so weak now... I'm afraid he won't make it if he doesn't start eating soon and getting better.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much...

Extra info... The problem is, I live in Asia and it is the Chinese New Year period here. It'll be public holidays for another 3 days yet... I don't think I can find another vet because they won't be open.

I am sorry that really stings. Especially when you feel so helpless and no one knows the answer. I had a puppy for like a week and a half and it was a perfect match him and my miniature dauchson loved each other. He started vomiting and wouldn't eat we took him to the vet and they didn't know what was wrong and then we found him dead one morning Turns out that the kennel that we got him from lied about giving him his shots. I am still so mad all they would of had to do was tell me and i would of got them for him no problem there is no reason why he should of died it was completely preventable.

Your grandma is right, rabies is very very rare in cats in most Western countries. The only way to test and find out fairly quickly if he has rabies involves killing the cat. But it is so extremely unlikely he has it. sounds like he just gave you a play bite. If he was really rabid he probably would have bit much harder and would have acted demented and looked sick. Is there any way to find out if someone around there owns this cat? If so, he may have had a rabies shot and is immune to it. and even if he had not had one for a few years, the immunity actually lasts longer. If you're really really paranoid you could go get the shots. If will admit that if I did that I would say I don't know the cat who bit me , make up a nonexistant cat who looks totally different, since I would be worried they might report it to animal control who would catch and kill him. Hopefully you washed it very well and put some triple antibiotic ointment on it. Since it is barely a scratch that should be fine. but if the area starts getting red and painful and swollen get to a doctor without delay for some stronger antibiotics. I doubt you will need that since it's not a deep bite, so I'm not trying to scare you, just saying IF it gets worse, you need to get to the doctor.

I am so sorry for your loss. I am in a situation similar. We have been back and forth as to what to do with our cat since the new year. she has good days then bad. Just when we make up our mind to go ahead and put her down she'll perk up again. she is pretty much as your cat. It's almost like she binges and purges. she is down to about 4lbs but she is still alert. I love her as my own child. I have had her for 17 years. The pain of losing her is so hard. Only a cat lover will understand!

I am sorry to hear of your loss

Pets mean the world to us

A poem for you ~~~~~~

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
