well I am a very sickly person myself and it usually takes me a long time to get over a cough... what seems to happen is the esophagus becomes irritated during the sickness and after the cold is gone, the throat is still irritated... so what is happening as the germs are leaving his body, he is still healing from coughing so much... it would be like a scab healing... it bled and now its healing... it usually takes me about 2 weeks to stop coughing... I find that lemon tea with honey in it helps me soothe my throat... I hope he gets to feeling better!

Yes. Don't worry. As long as he's coughing, he'll get his lungs cleared up. Of course, he needs his sleep - so you're doing the right thing. Don't worry mom. A high fever with a rattle in his chest would be cause to worry.

i have a cold and I have been taking mucinex dm green bottle has helped me a lot but I still am coughing but this is a cough depressant so it might help your son more than cough medicine he is getting. you can get this at any wal mart and it would probably help. Hope this helps and your son gets better.

following a cold, the respiraratory system is irritable , so there are bouts of cough for a week or so after stopping medications. one need not be worried about it, so long as there is no fever, difficulty in breathing, in the child.
