I like the Ubuntu Linux, especially the Kubuntu version but I am having difficulty getting information about the kernel.
It looks a lot like Debian which I have used frequently but I am not sure that it is.
It looks like it would handle Deb packages but then again it fails on installation.
Linspire and Xandros are both based on Debian and if Ubuntu is also based on Debian then I do not comprehend the logic why Linspire would be switching to Ubuntu as the core of it's distribution.

Ubuntu, in its official variants, is Debian.
Most packages would work flawlessly. It should be a dependency problem. Or failure to gain admin rights.
