I was just wondering whether someone while under the influence (drunk) is likely to tell to the truth, just be more honest with what they are saying... I know this person that hates to talk about certain things but when under the influence speaks out her mind like there's no tomorrow... Can these things being said be taken to be true, out of her subconscious, or can they just be random mumbling due to the alcohol... Can you guys help me here, there are some things that were said that are very important to me if they were to be true... should i take them as serious or simply desregard them as b.s. due to the alcohol? Thanks.

Ok, this girl i am seriously in love with, but she has a boyfriend, which is why i stay away. Out of no where she came and told me that she "loved me and that she wanted to be with me," i always suspected that she liked me but i was never sure, she hinted it sometimes but i always took it as careless flirting. Mind you she's always fighting with her boyfriend and have broken up a bunch of times. what do you guys think?

Not everyone becomes more jovial--I have an aunt who gets drunk and beats me up. Without provocation. Think of how many "mean drunk" stories you've heard or seen in movies.
In my experience (and hey, hey! I come from 2 family lines of alcoholics), the alcohol "removes" inhibitions. People say that and I find it true. So, a lot of people become more out-going (they lose the shyness), some become violent (they lose the desire to pass themselves off as "sane" or "nice"), and some people may become promiscuous (acting out desires that they normally hold in check).
Using that idea, it makes sense that your friend might be saying things that she would normally hide. However, it could be the things she is saying are fears or speculation--not hard facts. These may "just" be the rambling thoughts that come falling out. If everything you ever supposed or thought about was out loud, you'd not purport them to all be truths or facts. Think about that, too.

The "truth drugs" work in a very similar way to alcohol. What they actually do is to lower your inhibitions and make you more talkative as well.
If someone is holding back a secret, they become more likely to blab it out loud when drunk.
If they are not trying to hide a secret though, then they still become talkative, but what comes out maybe true or not. How often will someone drunk say they "love you" or that you are their "best mate". It may, or may not be true.
Honestly, I don't think you can ever be totally sure. Do you suspect the person was keeping a secret? If so, then it might be true. If not, then it could be an even chance whether it's true or not.
I hope this helps a little?

A drunk person loses all inhibitions and will tell you what he really thinks. However that might not be true 100% of the time, it could just be that she expressed her then feeling towards you or opinion about you and it's not reality, just drunkenness, stupidity and a figmantation of her clouded mind. I would talk to that person and ask her about the comments she made while under the influence and see her reaction. Also if she's a friend, I would stay away from her.

Many people say that drunks speak the truth. Not in my experience. They are more jovial, more happy and love everybody. Whether itx appropriate or not. I realise that not everyone behaves the same when they're drunk but there's certainly no way I'd ever believe anything a drunk told me.
Okay - read you added note: why don't you ask her if she meant it ,while she's sober?

sometimes' I THINK SO IT GIVES THEM THE NERVE TO SAY THINGS that they know better than to say when their sober and got better sense, when they are drunk they get real stupid, and do and say a lot of things they wish they hadn't.that's why its best not to scramble that brain an stay sober.

No, some of what they say might be remotely true, but you will never know. Chow
