Seems like I'm going to get answers that basically say Satan wanted to be like god. It's not that he had a problem with the way God did things, he just wanted to be in charge. Right?

Since god made satan, I'd say it started right from his creation.
I love how god is so perfect yet he had to:

Kick Adam and Eve out for screwing up
Flood the entire world for sinning
Kick Satan out

etc...

Maybe he should just have a do-over?

God didnt do anything to satan when satan was angel in heaven before God threw satan out. satan tried to rebel Gods people against him. Satan had tricked adam and eve into eating the fruit from the tree of Good and evil.

Some say that Satan was mad because he wanted to be able to create like God did.

Some say Satan was vain because he was so beautiful

Some say that Satan was jealous because man had the option to not love God and God would still forgive them.

It was selfishness and pride that made Lucifer/Satan rebel.
READ the 5 'I's of Isaiah 14:12-16.
I will ascend into heaven.
I will exalt my throne above the stars of God.
I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation.
I will ascend above the heights of the clouds.
I will be like the most High.
To be like God is also the lie he told Eve in Genesis 3:5.

Only the perfect will can live forever. And only God has it.

Anyone who has a different will, will sin because anything against the will of God IS Sin.

Man was made with free will yet without sin because man was not conscious of right or wrong. However, Satan was made with this discernment but expected to follow God's will. It figures that not many will follow the will of God because if you don't honor or respect God and worship Him, why would you subject yourself to His will???

That very much explains why Satan sinned. Satan sinned because, well I don't think he would subject himself to someone greater than him. And that automatically meant Satan is a sinner.

Sin leads to more sin and more blasphemy and atrocities. Because sin occured, therefore pain, suffering and death came about.

Light is energy, anything without light is dead. (ie. no energy). And God said He is light.

Satan was jealous of God's creation of Man. After God created Man and granted him knowledge, God then instructed Adam to teach the angels the names of all the things in the world, then told the angels to bow to Adam. Satan was too full of pride to bow to what he thought was a lesser being.

Right. Would you allow your 4 year old to make the family's dinner? The reasons would have nothing to do with your child wanting to be like you. Would they? I'm thinking it would be more or less because they might burn themselves, burn the house or perhaps set the entire street alight guaranteeing indescribable misery! Imagine that action affecting the universe. What would you do if your child nags and persists demanding that you allow them because they promise to be careful? Would you let them? Your answer to this will give you an individual stance on the subject.

Dear Friend,

Satan the Devil was jelous of Gods relationship, and his love for Humankind.

Not only that, but Satan, an Angel, wanted mankinds adoration of God for himself, this was why he questioned gods authority, and deceived Eve.

God Bless

satan was an angel in heaven with god who wanted the control and was jealous of god..so god gave him the choice to leave and rule his own land but told him he could never re enter heaven and neither could anyone who followed him he would be cast down into a fiery hell where he would rule for all eternity and when satan left he took 1/3 of all the angels in heaven with him. that is pretty good leadership...these agels all knew if they left with him they would live in hell for all eternity and never come back to heaven but yet they went anyway.
