I like the taste of butter - salted or unsalted - but I seem to always burn it before I put the flapjacks in - so now I use a mixture of half butter (salted or not) and half good quality oil... works for me
...good luck with answers

To put in the mix: a good vegetable oil.
For the pan: Spray canola oil ( like Pam )
For on top: Land O Lakes Whipped Butter

Land O Lakes is the best butter you can get in just a normal grocery store, but I notice that cooking spray is more convenient (not more tastey) when cooking pancakes.

My preference is Land o Lakes. I would suppose any name brand or high quality butter would do. No margerine though YUCK!
