How is your potassium and magnesium intake? Sometimes when our bodies are deficient, adrenalin kicks in to act as a replacement for the potassium. This may be why you can get to sleep okay, but then wake and can't get back to sleep. Potassium is water soluble so it flushes from our system easily. It is also the counter-part to salt. We get way too much salt and never enough potassium in our regular American diets. Salt and potassium are electrolytes and their balance effects many aspects of our health, including what is happening to you regarding sleep. Taking potassium/magnesium supplements, or better, eating foods rich in those nutrients (bananas, potatoes, OJ) is one of the best things anyone could do for themselves. Give it a shot. If this doesn't help, see a neurologist specializing in sleep. Good luck.

Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress, dietary and medical
problems. By making small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly, insomnia can be
cured. I found the information at.

I have the same problems sometimes.

try drinking a glass of warm milk before bed (a SMALL glass so you don't have to use the bathroom)

and if you can't sleep, turn on a light and read, which will usually make you tired.

I had the same thing. The doctor took me off caffeinated drinks (coffee, tea, sodas), and foods with nuts or chocolates. He had me exercise earlier in the day, He also had me try melatonin for a couple of weeks.

You can get it melatonin at the health food store.
