Being saved isn't about being good enough for salvation, it's about accepting Jesus FIRST! Only when you accept Jesus as your savior, invite Him into your life and ask forgiveness of your sins can you begin to turn your life around to follow him.

We cannot ever be good enough to get into Heaven on our own, only by following Jesus and accepting His gift of salvation can we enter.

First, give your life to Christ. (he owns it anyway!) Second, ask Him to help you turn from your sin. The, show your willingness to follow him by participating in believer's Baptism.

Then, find a Bible-believing church and go whenever you can so you can enjoy the benefits of other believers as well!

I wish you the best, and all of Christ's Love an Grace!

You are sorta right. You shouldn't get baptized just because everyone else is doing it. That'd be like being an atheist just because lots of other idiots are saying they are.

However, I think as you go down this path toward achieving personal perfection, you'll realize that it is a hopeless task. At some point you'll have to recognize that nobody is perfect, nor can anybody live perfectly. We can only do the best we can do and trust that Jesus will make up the difference. That's what having a "savior" is all about.

Good luck! :-)

I understand your dilemma, but let me assure you that there are only TWO criteria for baptism: belief (which you have) and repentence from sin (which I presume you've done). No where does the Bible state that you have to go through an elaborate learning process before you're baptized. Read Acts 8:26-40 and notice that, once the man accepted what Philip had preached to him, he says at verse 36b: “See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized?” So what is truely hindering you? Do you feel unworthy to be baptized unless you feel scholarly? I assure you, this is not required.

Being baptized is not a requirement for salvation. However, it is required in order to be obedient to Jesus' command that we be baptized. I urge you to go with your cousins and take the plunge. You won't regret it!

Peace and blessings, sister!

You're right to not get baptized for someone else's reasons. On the other hand, you don't need to wait until you're living the right life. That will never happen, because none of us is able to live as Jesus would have us live.

Baptism is an outward sign, so try to follow Jesus in all ways and be baptized as soon as you're ready. God bless.

Baptism is an outward expression of an inward change- so baptism does not save you- only Christ- so first of all make sure that you have accepted Christ as your Savior by admitting that you are a sinner and accept Him as the payment for your sin- About wanting to change your life first- only Christ can do that- so you must come to Him just as you are- and if you wait until your life is completely changed to get baptized you may never get there. I was baptized years ago, and I still am changing through the power of the Holy Spirit. About waiting to give yourself to Jesus after you live the right life- like I said before without Christ we will never live the right life- remember Christ died for us before we came to Him, not after. God wants us to come as we are, and He will change us-

Dear Friend,

Baptism is a very important part of following Christ, as it symbolizes dying to sin and being raised into Christ. You should only get baptized when you are ready.

Accept Jesus as your Savior in prayer, invite him into your life and acknowledge that you are a sinner, and he will come. It would then be a good idea to seek a bible study leading towards baptism.

Your local Methodist Church should be able to help you

God Bless

Different denominations believe different things. I don't follow any denomination, only the Bible, so I believe that baptism is not a requirement. The only requirement is to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

That said, don't wait until you're living the "right life" to come to Jesus. It won't ever happen. That's why you need God, beccause you CAN'T do it alone.

What makes you think that you need to give Jesus a receipt for your belief? Either you do or you don't believe, the Holy Spirit has worked in your heart or not, and that faith is given, not taken. Baptism by the way is what believers do. They want to be part of God's kingdom and receive the "mark" of his covenant with them. Please don't turn this around to trying to be in charge of God, decisions for Christ are not in any way your initiative, you get no glory and no merits because you don't turn your heart around -- God does that.

Follow your own time and pray about it. You don't have to go with your cousins if you don't want to- you'll know when it's right. Jesus loves you and I wish you the best of luck asking him into your heart and life. He will make your life so unfathomably amazing.

God Bless!
