Written by men under the direction of the Holy Spirit. The Bible is the the Word of God. God is the author and the men who wrote it were merely the scribes.

The Bible is the word of God. Although he did not write it, he inspired men to be able to write it. It wasn't a dictation though, so that's why there may be scientific or historical fallicies every once in a while. What is infallible about God's word are the truths of our faith that are contained it the Bible.

God dictated to men what was to be written. Don't think that God would allow man to change His Word throughout history. Even if the words aren't exactly the same, when you have the Holy Spirit in you, the meaning is all the same.

Why do you even need to ask?
Obviously it was written by men - many men over the course of many centuries.
The theory that it was dictated by God to those men is of course insusceptible of proof; but it must at least be admitted that if it was, God saw fit to include many blatant errors of fact in His text, and to contradict Himself throughout, and even to portray Himself as a ruthless, bloodthirsty tyrant, the scourge of His own chosen, a monster who sent His only son into the world as a blood sacrifice to Himself to appease His own wrath! In short, if the Bible is the Word of God, you can keep Him!
