Whole house has popcorn ceilings and I want to remove it all. Some areas come off in chunks, but others are on pretty good. Is tedious scraping the only way to remove the popcorn plaster? or can steam/water be introduced to make the removal easier?

take an empty spray bottle and fill with warm water ,litely spray a small area and wait a couple minutes and scraping with a wide putty knife should make it easer to remove, just don't over do it with the water.

First check to see what kind of acoustic you have and if it has asbestos, assuming you have the soft foam type and asbestos free,

First lay plastic on the floor, cover or remove all furniture, bring in the garden hose with an adjustable spray nozzle and mist one room at a time, get it really wet, then use a wide putty knife and scrape it off like cake icing. re texture & paint, roll up plastic and your good to go.

i've got performed this in 3 rooms in my domicile. it fairly is incredibly notably trouble-free to do yet prepare for a large number. you need to use the two a twig bottle of water or a moist sponge. in simple terms get a community moist and scrape it off with a painters spatula or incredibly something that works. I recommend you place on glasses through fact it gets on your eyes. additionally, in case you do no longer desire your floor to be a large number, you need to hide it. All in all, this is a terrible concern and additionally you will hate it whilst you're doing it despite the fact that it fairly is worth it. i did no longer have any seams or something incorrect with my ceiling in any respect once I took it off. So i wish this helped, reliable good fortune!

We had the same thing on the walls and ceiling (who would do that to the walls is beyond me!!) and we sealed off the rooms and used an air sander. The type they use for body work on cars. It rips right thru it. It is messy and it took a couple of nights work to get it all off but it was worth it. Make sure if you are able to use this method to make sure you seal everything tightly and move all furniture out of the room.

I agree with Lisa H. slightly dampen the acoustics and scrape with putty knife. so that you don't have to keep arms up, try connecting to broom handle or something of that matter.
JUST MAKE SURE TO PUT DOWN PLASTIC OR TARP, CAN GET VERY MESSY, ESPECIALLY WHEN WET.

No, there is no easy way. Doing it through the whole house will be a fairly major remodel.
