What songs do you hate to hear at a wedding? My Dj allows me to banded songs so he won't bring them and they won't be played.
I want to band the "chicken dance" and the "hookie pookie". I still have flash backs to my friend who had a very fancy wedding with a real violist group playing for 2 hours..... and then her aunt force her and the whole wedding party to do the chicken dance for the first fast song.... It was awful!!
Any songs you hate?

I don't think you should ban ANY songs.

You might not want to hear them, but maybe your guests do. It is the responsibility of the hosts to make sure the guests have a good time. And one thing that really upsets guests is when they request a song and are told that it isn't available or if they're told it was on the do-not-play list. Then, they either think you hired an incompetent DJ and will start scrutinizing everything else you arranged, or that you're overly controlling.

Also, guests dance to songs that they requested. Which is better...having an empty dance floor and songs you like, or having your guests dancing and having a good time while you suffer through two 3-minute songs.

Really, listening to a few songs that you don't like isn't going to kill you. You'll be off mingling with your guests anyway, and probably won't even notice that they're playing.

I dont think you should ban any songs! You may not like listening to the electric slide but I guarentee that if you have a fun group of people they will have a lot of fun dancing to it. I have been to a bunch of weddings & the best ones were when we could all get out there & dance to funny songs & have the time of our life! Those are the weddings I remembered & loved the most :) But if you have a really formal wedding with a bunch of snobby people you need to ban all of the fun songs including the chicken dance, bunny hop, electric slide, YMCA, & the macarena. But if not dont ban any just have fun! I hope this helps! Good Luck :)

For my wedding, the DJ accepted requests and allowed me to choose songs not to play. I picked the chicken dance as one not to include due to the annoying nature, but told him that if he had more than ten different people request it then it was OK. By the time they did end up playing the song it wasn't really that big of a deal. Everyone was having a good time and it makes for interesting wedding photos. Whatever you decide should be right for you, Good Luck!

Are "banded" songs the ones wrapped up with tape or ribbons? There are songs that you may want to have on a list of banned songs...like the Rodeo Song...which I think is funny but somewhat inappropriate for a wedding.

Totally ban the macarena! I am personally banning sexy back or anything Justin Timberlake, as well as Beyonce---I just can't take any more of it without wanting to rip my face off!

Ban all songs where you have to do a ridiculous dance, ie. Birdie Song, Saturday Night, Cha Cha Slide, Agadoo, Cheeky Girls, and all Spice Girl songs!

Well, I was ussed to nice classy weddings in Mexico city ( u know, waiters, open bar all night and morning long, huge receptions, dinner, then hang over breakfast and all that, and live bands with verey lively music and dancing ) then I came to Texas, so dirty and so hick, I couldn't belive they charged for drinks, ppl drank beer and they played country and rap.....so gross.

So yeah, eliminate any rap, any country and the Dj, too ghetto. Get a band. The music, well it depends a lot on your background and what u guys like, so I jus tgave u my personal opinion.

What is 'banded'? Are you trying to say 'banned' or 'ban'?

And what is the 'hookie pookie'? Were you attempting the 'hokey pokey'?

I strongly suggest you let your DJ or husband handle this.
