I am assuming you are on Workers Comp, so I am not surprised at anything they will do to try and get out of paying you. Is it right, hmmm NO but then again so many people will say or do anything to draw money off the system. Unfortunately the Innocent are punished because of this..

Are you recieving money from the company? Did you have personal days or sick days that the company is paying you for? If not are you planning on trying to recieve SSI benefits? If you are doing any of these things then yes the company has a right to have you investigated to make sure the claim is valid. However not really sure in your case what good a P.I would do, except to make sure you are attending therapist meetings or any other type of help you may need.

No No No, and add to your stress? If I was off on work related stress, I would get out of town. They really can't find you and why would they. Go to a friends house and stay.
Also red flags have gone up and sending a pi is their way of finding out if you are legit or not. So are you doing this often? Are you getting paid for taking time off? There has got to be other reasons than what you have stated. Otherwise most company's would rather you take time off, it saves the company money and causes less work for everyone.

It's perfectly legal for anyone to pay a P.I. to follow and even photograph you as long as you're in what is considered to be a public access area or in the open.
Are you sure your company actually DID hire an investigator or are you just a tad bit paranoid?
Stress can make you paranoid and see things too...

not for work related stress i wouldnt have thought. what does a PI know about stress and what to look for.
it is acceptable when people complain of work preventing injuries such as bad backs and take massive amounts of time off. this is costing the company money.

Absolutely - stress is something that people can easily fake and people get caught out all the time. If you are genuinely ill you will not have anything to hide. If not, you should get back to work.

anyone can hire a P.I. for any reason, but seek legal advice and start looking for a new job i wouldn't want to work for someone who didn't trust me.

If you are filing a workmans comp claim, then yes - the company that insures them can do that. Just like all the back injury cases.

They are on very thin ice, not sure what they aim to prove really. Being off with stress would not preclude you from going about other normal every day activities - I guess they would be checking you weren't working somewhere else.
If I were you, I would seek proper legal advice though.

Why not, do you have something to hide?
I do know insurance co. will do that for some dissability claims and will film folks outside playing basketball, or workin on the roof. when they are supposed to be laid up in the house getting better.
