I am being bullied by the Birmingham Education Authority. They are trying to force us to comply with them and we do not want to. Any advice or does anyone have any experience of this - if so, what did you do? Does anyoneknow of any oganisations that can help us?

The LEA are trying to get me to admit them into my house so that they can "vet" us and our suitability to educate our boys (this by teh way is not legal) they are also refusing to de-register our children until we do this which is also illegal.

Telephone "education otherwise". Look on internet for them. They are excellent. They will send someone to actually be with you with any dealings you have with authority (well, they offered to sort out anyone I had problems with). They dictated a letter for me to deregister, to both the school and the local authority. They were there for whenever I needed and they know their stuff.
My daughter left her school at 12, and we have survived. I should add that I did tend to worry and I followed E.D.s advice by sending a letter telling the authority what we were doing, whenever they requested it......so long as you do that, you are ok.
I can also say that by doing this, I actually NEVER had to meet anyone from any authority at all.
The funny thing is that when I tentatively enquired about her joining a local college at age 15, I discovered that they'd completely "lost" her, and they said "Look, you've managed all this time, why don't you just carry on as you are doing..."!!!!!!
Anyway, good luck. Do contact them.

The Home School Legal Defense Organization [hslda.org] takes care of things like this - I 'think' they will give advice even if you are not a member. A few years ago I had a friend who was having problems on 2 occasions and she called them and got very good advice that solved her problems, and she was not a member.

Have a read through the law section at Education Otherwise - lots of information to help you fight them. Don't give in to the bullying, you have every right to educate your child(ren) at home.

I would also recommend the web site: http://www.education-otherwise.org/

If possible get in contact with your local Education Otherwise group. They will be able to give you some support and advice.

Good luck!

Need more details, how are you being bullied, what are they trying to do that you disagree with?
