Ok, I was put on 10 mg of Lexapro for anxiety. I haven't taken any of the pills yet because I wanted to research it first. Everything I have read has not been positive. My sister was on it and felt very disconnected, sick and couldn't sleep. I also read that someone had their first seizure on it. I don't want to take the 10 mg, I want to try 5 mg first. Has anyone been on this? Can you share your story with me? I don't suffer from depression, only anxiety. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I am currently on 20 mg of Lexapro. I was on 10 mg until last week and just upped. I also take Xanax XR 2mg for panic attacks. I have been on Lexapro for 5 weeks and I feel pretty good. I'm still concerned that I have a need for the Xanax in addition, but for some people Lexapro can take up to 8 weeks to fully kick in for the anxiety problems. The first two weeks, I was very tired, had a dry mouth, a headache now and then - but now I have no side effects whatsoever. Everyone is different, and whether or not Lexapro will work for you is greatly dependent on your individuality. It IS one of the newer anti depressants on the market that is the most easily tolerated with the least amount of side effects. I think its a good one to start on. Good luck.

I started taking 10mg/day Lexapro for situational depression (family problem). My emotions flattened out and I felt like I was disconnected, I could not sleep more than 3 hours/night, my libido dropped, I was unable to have an orgasm when I did manae to get aroused, I started to gain weight, I also felt like I was dribbling urine all the time (I never did)it was horrible....I stopped the Lexapro and dealt with my depression with DHEA, exercise and alcohol....

I took it briefly after my mom passed away. I'd been taking Celexa (citalopram) but with all the grief I felt that it wasn't working, so my doctor switched me to Lexapr. I didn't like the side effects though -- it gave me tartive dyskenesia (tics) & my mouth was SO SO SO dry, & didn't make me feel any better.
