Hi, you absolutely must not come completely off prozac straight away - you will get withdrawl symptoms with a sudden stop - it's not addictive (no probs coming off physically) but the body is used to having it so to suddenly stop will make you poorly. Talk to your Dr, he or she will be able to help.

Wean down gradually. Try 3/4 of the dose for a while, then half, then 1/4. If you find yourself too low build it back up again.
I have been on Lustral (sertraline, Zoloft) for nearly 10 years. I have been taking 100mg doses for years and it's only in the last two or so years that I have been able to wean off it. I started by using the above method. Now, my tolerance is so low if I take too high a dose I just feel sick. I have been completely off it (give or take a couple of bad days where I take a quarter dose) for about 5 months. My doctor was happy for me to do things this way. If he had just tried to take me straight off it, I would have been a wreck! Not all methods will work for everyone however so it is imperative you consult your doctor first. Good luck, and remember, whether you have to take it or not, it doesn't really matter as long as you are feeling ok.

You most definately need to ween yourself off of it as anti-depressants can be addictive and you could experience severe side effects by just stopping them. drop your intake gradullay over a 1 month period and consult your doctor.

Good Luck and Take Care x

Slowly, but only with advice from your doctor.

I would suggest coming off it through stages, its not a good idea to just STOP!

Speak to your doc, and have the physician help you with guidelines to come off of it slowly.
It is the only healthy way to do so.
