in the highly industrialized and developed world religion is fading? In Western Europe and in countries like Japan, S. Korea, etc religion is pretty much dead. The United States is a bit backwards because of the bible belt, damn you Lincoln!!! But in the more cultured areas it's eroding; maybe not at Europe's rate but it's getting there. So don't you think theres a strong correlation between the developed world who have more education and are more aware of the world around them and the fact that this stupid thing they call religion is dying in these places?

Not that I doubt your assertions about Western Europe, Japan and Korea, but I don't think I'll believe it until you can present statistics to back them up, espcially since evey other church I drive by has Korean services.

I also would not call religion stupid, as it does fill a need in many people and often helps them through their lives. Granted "religion" has been the root of some bad things as well.

Just this atheists opinion.

I think this argument does not make for people's making intelligent decisions about God and religion. It is the same argument made by evolutionists: All the really smart people believe it and all the backward uneducated people do not.
That is not logical.

The unfortunate fact is that increased knowledge and increased accomplishment has always tended to make man prideful, and turn him away from God.

That's also why there is still so much suffering in the world.

Man may finally have no need of God the day he learns how to make his own dirt ... from nothing at all.

Until then, don't count God out.

Actually the correlation is due to sin not industrialization. Make no mistake I am not saying industrialization is sinful, but trying to give you a more accurate correlation.

Yes, the more we understand the world around us, the less we need to depend on a man in the sky.

it is a logical conclusion. When I was a child I was told Santa lived at the north pole but as my knowledge progressed I came to realize this was impossible. May sound silly but the same logic applies.

The Western world became advanced industrialized places precisely BECAUSE of the spread of Christianity....Please learn history......before making your ignorance fully known.

the biggest reason those countries dont have much religion is because they were forced to stop practicing it. they didnt have a choice and some of them were killed because they didnt stop. look it up. the news dont tell u the truth most of the time. but those ppl had no choice in the matter and if that ever happens in the u.s. they will have to kill me before i stop believing in God.
