No, only a person with specific license can prescribe medication and/or even administer medication. All medical licenses can and certain Nursing and Physician assistants can. Some Paramedics can administer. Now some MSW's and LCSW's may make recommendations as a part of an interdisciplinary team regarding medication, but the psychiatrist will be the one actually prescribing the medication. DA

AB,

My understanding is...

Only the following may prescribe meds, after getting authorization from the DEA:

M.D.'s
D.O.'s
Physician's Assistants*
Registered Nurse Practitioners*
So-licenced Pharmacists

*May not prescribe narcotics.

I do not know about D.C.s...
