Depends on how much handholding you require. The Big Two, TurboTax and TaxCut, probably provide the most in terms of that, and you'll pay accordingly. The others tend to be less expensive, but will require you to know your tax situation much more in order to get the return filled out correctly.
In any case, any sort of software is better than paper and pen calculation, and will save you money only if you know your tax situation well enough not to require professional assistance.

www.irs.gov, individual, free file, either have the IRS choose for you based on you projected need, or choose your own. TaxSlayer is user friendly and in some cases allow free State Filing as well as Federal if you fall under the guidelines. A lot of people like TurboTax and H&R Block. But, remember if you aren't aware of all the deductions and credits you are eligible for, you may miss out...without professional guidence.

I used turbo tax...i got the state and federal version on sale for 23 bucks at costco....i had to pay 15 to file the state version electronically, and 15 to file the fed version electronically.....BUT...my refunds were in my account last friday!
