My boyfriend left me with a $4000 cingular bill. It is way past due. I've been making many payments. I still owe about $1200. I learned my lesson this time, but meanwhile I don't know what to do. Is it true that as long as I keep making regular payments it will not go to collection? I would really appreciate any advice.

I would love to say yes - but I paid on a hospital bill every month (some times twice a month) and they still sent it to collections. I would call and ask Cingular what their policy is in regards to this. A lot of companies won't as long as you're making a payment every month. Whatever you do - don't quit making payments and I'd keep track of them if I were you.

If by regular you mean at least once every 45 days, you are fine. Do not let it go 60 days!!!! Are you writing the checks out to Cingular? If not it might already be in collection....

The bigger question is how the eff does someone run up 4000 in charges?!?!

as long as your paying it down don't worry the company hires people to handle you payment and when you pay off they get a check so breath and don't get blind sided again
