This is called last rites. A "right of passage" if you will. Catholics believe in a place (not mentioned in the Bible) called Purgatory. When you die, your soul goes to Purgatory, a place between Heaven and Hell. Believers in Jesus will "pray you into Heaven".

Holy Water is no different than ordinary water. Where do churches get holy water?

Holy water is simply water that has been blessed by a pedophile priest.

The Truth is that there is a Biblical Holy Water and there is witchcraft holy water that is sold on ebay.

It is a blessing.

Holy Water is a sacramental.

Sacramentals are sacred signs that help us live holy lives. Although they do not produce sanctifying grace.

Sacramentals include blessings of persons, meals, objects (including water), places, even the coffins of our dead.

Blessing the coffin of a deceased Christian is also a remembrance of the person's Baptism.

With love in Christ.

Nobody really knows when the soul departs from the body.

If the soul hasn't left yet, or if something evil is preventing it from departing, the holy water quickly resolves all issues.
