Because dinosaurs, stone age man etc. actually existed - that's why they've found evidence of them. However, the cross and the ark and everything else mentioned in the bible did not exist and the fact that no material evidence has been found for these things just strengthens the case that the bible is just a series of stories that have absolutely no basis in fact or are a journal actual events.

Even if you say that the cross and the ark were made of wood and therefore decayed, what about other things that would have survived to the present day - for example the tomb where Jesus was supposedly put after he was crucified. Also, with relation to the flood - such a climatic event would definitely have left geological evidence that would definitely have been found by now.

Also, answerers mention that there are things in the bible that have been proven to exist - such as places (Bethlehem, Jerusalem etc.), people (Caesar, Herod etc.), but isn't this the case of most fictional stories - How many films, books are set in New York. New york definitely exists, but it doesn't make them true. A prime example of this is Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code...very believable, well known places and alluding to people who actually exist(ed) - Leonardo da Vinci, Isaac Newton etc.- but a work of complete fiction - although, amazingly, there are people who actually believe the book is based on fact!

A useful quote....if an individual suffers from a delusion it's called insanity. If a large group of people suffer from a delusion it's called religion.

There are many items mentioned in the Bible that have been found.
There are tombs of people mentioned in the Bible that have been discovered, and most of the "places" in the Bible can still be visited today. The fact that the Bible still exists is evidence enough. The Dead Sea Scrolls, etc preserved God's word. Other writings from the time period also agree with many of the events of the Bible.

As for the ark, do a search for "ark and Turkey". The mount where the ark came to rest is in Turkey and they have found evidence of a large vessel that would fit the description of the ark.

Some people say that the cross & the ark etc have survived & are in safe keeping with secret religious groups who had to go underground for fear of the evidence being destroyed by opposing religious groups throughout the ages. Many important religious scriptures were destroyed as the churches wanted to control the masses, so they would conveniently get rid of anything that didn't say what they wanted it to. They would no doubt do the same thing today.

Or the garden of eden. Or a convincing reason for Christianity to be believed above the dozens - hundreds - of religions that preceded it.

We didn't find 'evidence' of dinosaurs. We found actual dead dinosaur remains, which is out of the bounds of 'evidence' and into those of 'material proof.'

Later note: Sorry, but the answer below mine is just too tempting to respond to. The existence of the bible is not proof. You might have noticed a great many books in your local store, a large percentage of which are fictional in nature and yet - gasp! - set in real locations. I dread to think of a distant future where society is modeled on an ancient, found copy of Day of the Triffids.

Well, as opposed to some of the answers below, 99% of historians will say that THE cross certainly did exist, and 100% of historians will say that Roman crosses for crucifixion absolutely did exist. It is just as well documented and supported by cross-textual analysis as, say, the existence of the Roman empire itself. No matter what you believe about Jesus, to say that the crucifixion never happened is to be at worst ignorant and at best radical in opinion about world history.

The answer to your question is fossilization. Only fossilized dinosaur bones are found, not all of them. The cross and the ark (should you accept the ark as history as well) were not fossilized because they were not in the right conditions. In fact, they were probably burned or used as scrap material by people who, at the time, didn't see them to hold much meaningful significance.

There is a boat from the time of Christ that was fossilized in the mud by the Sea of Galilee that is on display in Tiberias I believe. It is about 2000 years old, same age as the cross roughly, but it was buried in this stuff for two millenia that kind of preserved it, and even so it is in really bad shape. Imagine what the ark would be reduced to stuck on a mountain for 6000 years!

The materials they were made out of, also the fact that the materials were stored differently. Bones seem to of been encased on clay/rock, which would protect it from decay and the elements. The cross as well as the arc were both left exposed and therefore much more likely to decay. However, if you are trying to imply that the Romans did not use crucifixion as a form of punishment then I suggest you read a bit more history, because they did so on many occasions.

My answer assumes that these objects did in fact exist; a theological debate is outwith the scope of this question.

If I understand scripture correctly, both the cross and the ark were made of wood. As such, it is very unlikely that any trace remains, as wood is organic matter and will have long since decayed. Also, my understanding is that the locations of these objects are not known to any degree of accuracy. We can find evidence of dinosaurs and early humans because it appears all over the world; looking for a single object is much harder unless its precise location is known.

Ghost is "beings" from yet another measurement. you will not have the flexibility to be sure them in the actual measurement different than in case you have particular eyesight or polyvision. keep in mind that as quickly as you pass away your actual sort you address a clean sort in a clean measurement with new rules. The actual measurement has rules inclusive of evolution, time and gravity. not all dimensions have those rules, yet they do produce different rules. I stone age mans soul heavily isn't diverse than ours. A dinosaur i won't be in a position to tell. perhaps it quite is comparable.

I once saw a TV show in which agnostic archaeologists said they could find every city, every road, basically everything the Bible spoke of. Also the dead sea scrolls which were written by the esscenes during the time of Christ speak of a profit named Jesus. The book of Mormon did not fare as well as they could find no evidence of the places, tools, etc, listed in it.
