Buddha was ambiguous about God- he never explicitly stated that God didn't exist but he didn't teach that belief in God was necessary for achieving enlightenment. I think perhaps you're alluding to the fact that Buddhism teaches morality, tolerance and compasion without any belief in God.

Allow me a bow for your very good question and to acknowledge your insight into the similarities between Buddhism and other Faiths. What you say is quite true. Indeed Buddhists are using the ideas that inspired the Faiths of God.

Buddhists however are not inspired by God nor are they inspired by Faith in God. Moreover, the Dharma and the precious words therein were written more than 500 years before the man known as Jesus appeared on earth. In reality then the words that God inspired were inspired by the Lord Buddha and the precious Dharma.

The Lord Buddha gave us the Dharma to live by and it has been an inspiration for all others, he taught us about the nature of the world and of the nature of suffering and also how to rid ourselves of suffering. Should not the other Faiths then listen to the Dharma too..? It is not for Buddhists to decide the value of this wisdom.

Peace from a Buddhist...
