By the sound of it, you've just not found the right diet that you found easy enough to stick to long enough for it to work. It is tough sticking to a diet - especially when you're trying to make long-term changes.

I've found Weightwatchers to be really good - especially the online service because you don't have to go everyday but there's a truckload of resources for you to use. If you go on the points diet (where each food has a points value and you have a limited number of points per day) then it has a points tracker where it calculates and records everything you eat and drink so you can properly monitor your progress. You can also keep a diary on the tracker so you can look back on bad days and see what you were feeling that made you go over your limit that day. Then you can look for new ways to overcome those feelings.

I've found that I'm not alone in snacking on treats if I'm down or fed up or even bored - seems that most women suffer from that to a degree. One saying I try and stick to is this - if hunger isn't the problem, food isn't the answer!

It has forums where users log in and talk about their issues/problems with progress and give each other support and it provides lots of ideas for recipes/exercise etc to keep you going.

It gives you enough structure to help you stick to it but isn't so strict that you fall off the plan easily. What's more, you can eat whatever you want so long as you stick to your points. If you end up choosing your points wisely on low fat options then you find you'll be eating more but still losing weight and feeling healthier!

It's important to mix dieting with exercise - you will feel better once you're in the swing of it - and there's so much to choose from today that there will be something to suit your lifestyle.

Check it out here http://www.weightwatchers.co.uk/ and good luck - you can do it!

Is it a case of the diets don't work or you are not sticking to them. If it is the diet then go and speak to your doctor because you might have a thyroid problem or something. If it is because you find them hard to stick to then I would suggest a class, Slimming World, or which ever is in your area. That is the only way I managed it, going back week after week is the incentive and you have all that support behind you too. There is plenty of food to eat on this diet (Slimmimg World) and you can even have a treat every day which is counted as a sin, but you are allowed 10 to 15 sins a day so it's not too bad.

its the same old question and answer it is not the amount you eat but what you eat, limited eggs to two a week grill all food instead of frying, sausage cook on there own and you will be amazed at the amount of fat that comes out of them, grill basically everything and limit the amount of roasted products, eat more products with omega 3 oils and use low fat butter,like\ flora light and eat brown /wheatgerm bread, plenty of excercise walking, swimming, cycling,a brisk walk for 30 mins a day, jogging, just reducing the food intake alone will only partially help.

You need both diet and exercise to lose weight, its not just a pick a choice option. Is both or none.

You have to burn the fat with cardio, by raising your heart rate. You cant just diet and expect those extra pounds to burn off from sitting on a computer all day.

Diet and exercise or bust. Thats it.

I lost a stone and a half in 6 weeks and have kept it off now for 6 years. I used a programme from A1diet. I had tried other things that didn't work for me - but this one is guaranteed!!!

Diet and exercise. It has to become a new way of thinking, a new lifestyle. You have to live it every day, unfortunately.

You have simply got to eat less and keep it that way. Otherwise massively increase the amount of excercise you do. There's no simpler way
