When PayPal first started, you could fund your gaming accounts with them. Ebay quickly nixed that when they took over.
The only online site you can use currently in the US is epassporte. It still works. Probably not for long though as congress is very aggressive in eliminating online gaming in this
country.
Most sites will also take cash via western union.

PayPal could be used for gambling sites a few years ago, but the US government pressured them into stopping. They still don't offer the option.
I've beginning to use Visa Gift Cards for online gaming. They reportedly work everywhere, and you can get a card up to $500 for a $2 fee at GiftCards.com (I don't have an affiliation there, but I've searched and this appears to be the lowest fee. If you have found one cheaper please post.) They work like a credit card, and even on the off chance it doesn't work on a site, you can spend it anywhere that takes Visa. You may be able to use PayPal to buy one, if not on GiftCards.com then somewhere else. There are links to suppliers at Visa.com

No. Paypal is owned by ebay and is not affiliated with sporting bets. You just need to pay through the site's merchant credit card options. They can only take payment according to their arrangements with credit card merchants.
