A foetus receives life from both the father and the mother. It is the mother alone who can support the life and assist the soul to inhabit the foetus during its stages of development. The 'Mother' or the female form was worshipped all over the ancient world as the 'Giver of life'. Soul is indestructible and eternal. It leaves a body on death and is reborn again. Soul is the gift from the supreme creator, God.

According to Vedic knowledge, the highest knowledge, the souls are situated in the grains. Men eats grains then the soul situates in the man's semen. When the semen goes into the womb of the female it starts developing a body. So the soul is the living force or life itself, when the souls leaves the body all is left is a dead body.

A child gets life from the genes supplied by both mother and father. The soul as far as modern science is concerned, has nothing at all to do with life.

I don't believe in the soul, but the mother's body is what helps the zygote to implant itself on the uterin wall,
That's the beginning of an established pregnancy.
Oh, and killing an unborn baby, especially after the embryo stage of 8 weeks is highly unethical and should be banned by law if you know anything about abortion procedure and fetology.

life and soul both are the two sides of a coin. soul enters in mothers body right on the day of conception.Conception is a physical phenomena, while addition of life in a body is a meta physical phenomena.

The father's sperm and the mother's egg develop in the womb of the mother.
The child has his own soul.

A child does not get life from a father! The father simply starts the process of making a child and men are becomming obsolete in that manner also. A woman gives life or decides not to.
