Many women, up to 75%, find that the pain and swelling associated with RA is much improved during pregnancy usually in the second trimester (14-27 weeks) and this is probably due to the normal hormonal changes in pregnancy. This temporary remission normally continues throughout the course of the pregnancy. During the later stages of pregnancy swelling, backaches and tiredness are common for many women regardless of their RA status. It is important that these normal pregnancy symptoms are not mistaken as RA problems

Definitely run it by your Rheumatologist first!

For me, they have said that the consequences of being of the meds for 9/10 mo. would be that during the pregnancy I would probably feel fine. But afterwards I would likely be in considerable more pain than I was before and would have a fare amount more damage to bones and joints that would never return to the way they were before. But, I think that every doctor will have a different view of the situation, and everybody's case of RA is different. I really hope that they give you a better answer than mine!!
