A Notice of Intended Prosecution must be sent to the registered owner/keeper of a vehicle (as shown on DVLA records) with a good chance of it reaching them within 14 days. In practice this means posting the notice by first class mail by the thirteenth day after the date of offence.

The registered owner/keeper is required by law to complete the Notice of Intended Prosecution, giving details of the driver/rider at the time of the alleged offence, and return it within 28 days of its date of issue.

The person named as the driver will then receive a Notice of Intended Prosecution and, if appropriate, a conditional offer of fixed penalty. If the conditions of the offer cannot be met, the speed was very excessive, or there are too many points on the driver’s licence, it will not be dealt with by fixed penalty procedures and a summons will be issued

In general about 3 - 4 weeks. It depends on the speed camera as some use film which means they have to come and remove it and develop it and some use computer technology where the information about the speeder go straight back to the police database.

Honestly, these things can turn up any time. Especially if you were caught outside of your home town. I got caught in Wales and it turned up on my doorstep in London 4 months later

Sorry to bring bad news but you're not out of the woods yet I'm afraid
