not beating around the bush. Coming straight out with what you have to say.
Yahoo answers cut the words from an answer I was giving and it looked to me like I was swearing.
Here in England UK we also sometimes use the word p.u.s.s.y. cats. What the heck is going on??
In USA they probably use it in another way but I'm in England on the English/Irish site. What's the deal? Can't I use the English language anymore?

Sorry - Yes I did mean to say:
"don't p.u.s.s.y foot around" means stop creeping round and say what you mean

This is one of the results of Americans bastardising the English language. See what happens when you want to enter the word for a female dog - even Crufts know it officially as B I T C H but that's not good enough for yahoo ! ! !

I would suspect that the English and Irish site were programmed by the same team that did the american site and so american bad words are included in the English and Irish versions. It would be interesting if you included a very defenite English bad word and see what happens.
The bad words checker on most computers will check to see if a word you use is questionable and might decide to block it. Some are getting more sophisticated now and they will check for phrases as well. Maybe in the future they will be able to see what context a word is being used for, but not at the moment.

depends on your intention of the use of words. There is a ***** foot. which meens trying to softly get around to a subject before scratching someones eyes out, or just surprising them with properly constructed sentances.
Now I know why your using p.u.s.s.y because without the stops between letters the word shows as astrix. OH there you are then.

Actually pussyfooting around means NOT coming straight out with what you want to say.
It implies creeping on silent cat's paws.
You can't say weather c-o-c-k, you can't call a female dog a b-i-t-c-h, I think you can still call a fanny a fanny, but that's because US citizens think it means bum. Strange that they are still able to reproduce.
There is a wave of puritanism sweeping through the USA - maybe we shouldn't have shoved our puritans out of England on the Mayflower. I'm sure we could have tamed them peacefully, given time.

Doesn't it drive you nuts(can I say NUTS)? I just got a violation notice for answering a totally incomprehensible question with a question mark. But the question-statement-nonspelchecked thing is still there for nobody to understand(rant)
I guess YA isn't always a fair place.

it means to tread carefully, hold back. IE if you were uncertain about doing something that had to be done someone would say don't p.ussy foot around, get on with it, or if someone was in a bad mood you might p.ussy foot around them by watching what you are saying or doing in case you set them off. hope this makes sense.
i agree with you about the censoring, i was talking about smoking and couldn't write f.ag which is what we call cigarettes!!!!!!!!
