San Antonio Bay is absolutley fine- really it is.
People who have never been don't know the difference. San Antonio is essentially 2 resorts. Yes, the wild part is San Antonio town (sometimes called the west end) it's all winding streets and actually during the day and off season can be quite pretty, but at night it comes alive with all the young 18-30 crowd. Most of them all stay within staggering distance of the clubs and nightspots.
Then theres the Bay where you're going and San Antonio Bay is totally different from San An town. Its a couple of km away from the town on the other side of the bay. It is mainly 3 star hotels and apartments many of which has sea views. There are restuarants shops and cafes in the Bay but not as many of the busy nightclubs. There are a couple but most are in the West End.
The Bay is popular with couples and families and I think that if you are going to one of the nicer hotels or apts you will be absolutley fine. Its a pity you don't say when you are travelling because I would say that especially if you are travelling outside the period Mid July to Mid September then you will have no problems whatsoever.

However, if I can be completely honest with you, then if you booked with a travel agent, then they should have been reccommending Santa Eulalia for your trip with your mother. It would have been perfect for her- it has a beautiful beach, lovely hotels and a relaxed atmosphere being a little more upmarket than San Antonio Bay with it's sea front bistros and shops.
That said, Its your holiday too and Ibiza is a beautiful island and San Antonio Bay is a good overall choice particularly out of the peak season.
I think that the resort will suit your mother. She will love the scenery (the Marina is very pretty) and if you have chosen a good quality accomodation then theres nothing to worry about and you will both have a great holiday there.

All the best!

Edit: At that time, then I guess you have the best of both worlds. It is your holiday too, and I bet your mum will be really happy for you to go clubbing while she relaxes- You've chosen well after all- good on you! Have a great time!

It is just the town centre thats bad you are right. San Antonio bay is lovely and quiet, its got a lovely beach and a few bars and restaurants and a lovely view across the bay to the lights of San Antonio. I had a lovely week there with my friend a couple of years ago, we did venture to the other side of the water to see what all the fuss was about but really didnt like it! Only thing i would say is that most of the apartment blocks in the bay are at the top of quite a steep incline, not great when you have had a beer or two!

Enjoy it will be great

Ibiza is a beautiful place - people think of the images from the TV but this is only around the clubs in the evening and not that extreme, Some other parts of the island are almost untouched.
During the day the atmosphere is relaxed and there really is no other place like it, during the evening there is something for everyone - you don't have to go to a nightclub!!
I would recommend Ibiza to everyone - old, young, clubbers on a 18-30 holiday...even my husband loved it and I fully intend to go there again on a family holiday next time. Enjoy your holiday, I'm sure you'll be seduced by Ibiza like thousands of others, it is truly unique.

yes, it's a dump! It's a little England populated with English nutters.

Quickly change your booking to Rome and impress your mum with your intellectual worldliness!
