Start off with a well-balanced, calorie restricted diet comprised of whole grains, fruits, vegetables, lean meats, low-fat dairy, and lots and lots of water. If you can reduce your calorie intake by 500 calories per day (but keep it at least at 1200 per day), you will lose a pound a week.
Meanwhile, start trying to exercise 30 minutes, 3 times a week. You can dial up the intensity later, so if all you can manage is walking, that's fine. Focus on the habit for now.
Your attempts should be to change the unhealthy habits for healthy ones. Once you change your lifestyle, you can lose weight and keep it off.

One of the quickest ways is to use a treadmill and get on it. Exercise, especailly cardio will get your metabalizim up and start burning the fat. You can walk, jog, or anything like this. Here is some articles that you may be interested in that has more.
