Islamophobia is a good and accurate phrase as, of course, it means a fear of Islam, rather than a hatred for Muslims.
Yes, I personally - and many others - do have a fear of Islam, and many other fundamentalist movements.
I have lived alongside Muslims for years and have no unease with this. However, there are many of the fundamental aspects of the culture which I do not think compatible with a democracy.
These include the vilification of homosexuals. When I tried discussing this in an online forum recently I met a tirade of vitriol. When I have discussed it with Muslims I have been told that gays and lesbians deserve to be executed.
Many find the role of women questionable, even if that role is consensual. I feel so sorry for the babies I see looking at their mothers, hidden by a veil, and wonder what they must think: that their mum is someone to be ashamed of? That this slightly sinister appearance awaits them, too?
I hate to see the primary-aged children being marched to mosque every night, clutching the koran, and having to drop out of activities and groups (I work in a library) because they "have to go to mosque." If adults want to follow a religion, they should not indoctrinate their children, also. Surely if that faith is so good, the kids will come to see that themselves.
I hate the halal method of killing, proven by independent scientific analysis to be cruel and ineffective. It is also against British Law, yet each day I must walk past a halal butchers and see the carcasses of animals I know have been tortured to death.

There are, I am sure, many Muslims who do not subscribe to the practises above, and many more who may disagree with them and perhaps actively pursue development and progress within Islam. I send my most affectinate greetings to those people.

I think if you have this many questions you should post them separately.

Anyway, Islamaphobia implies a FEAR of Islam. I am not afraid of Islam, nor Muslims. I just find that, more often than not, I am unable to bond with Muslims quite as easily as I can with Atheists. This is a generalisation, I know, and I have had Muslim friends in the past. On average, however, Muslims can be more difficult for me to socialise with than Atheists.

That is not Islamaphobia, it is honesty. Do you expect me to lie and say 'no no, I love muslims - Islam is great'? That would be a generalisation too far in the other direction.

I hear the frustration behind your question, and I'm sorry that you feel this way.
It's a terrible thing that some people are so ignorant that they would fear, hate, or condemn a whole group of people based on what a few nuts who aren't at all representative of the rest of their society say.
It makes me as angry as it makes you because it's wrong, plain and simple.
But asking silly, angry questions is not a fruitful form of retaliation. Educate others instead with your knowledge and experience, work to ensure that the mainstream does not go to the extreme of the nutters. Lead by peaceful, rational, assertive example. Speak out with words of wisdom, and show them *why* you're right.

no. i have friends that are muslim and they are pretty good people. They don't scare me. For those that are muslim and say "alla akhbar" while shooting and killing someone I do not fear them. I suggest they seek psychiatric help. You don't use God praise him while you are about to or just ended a life that he had created in any religion. And consider yourself a soldier of God. Your nothing but a HYPOCRITE.NO. Barney doesn't hurt anything but your eyes and your ears. But for those that appreciates him and gets entertain by him, his not that bad.

The real question is how can you follow a religion that apparently believes strapping dynamite to yourself and blowing up women and children is acceptable behavior?
You'll pardon me if I find that a trifle psychotic.
I'm not afraid of Islam. I admit it's followers make me a little nervous.
Do you always follow up your remarks with nonsense questions? It kind of lessens your credibility.

No, they don't scare me. What does scare me is how stupid our government is for not moving all of them out of the country. Imagine if in WWII we allowed Nazis to live here...or let one run for President.
I know full well their intentions.

i dont like Barney
i dont like grenades.
I donot fear Islam. but if i were captured by a terrorist, and they took a Knife or a hack saw to my neck I would praise God until i couldnt speak. Testifying that Jesus is king of kings, not mohammed. Mohammed PBUH bows his knee to Jesus, not necessarily the christian version of the saviour but to the messiah that lived and died and was resurrected.
