The spirit of the man is the only part of us that can relate to the Spirit of God. It is in the spirit of man that we are born again. It is through our spirit that God speaks to us and it is only by faith that the natural man can access the spirit of God. And that is why we live by faith.

He guides us in the things we do.
He will lead us to do a good deed,
Or say something nice to someone,
or Help someone,
Or buy someone food, that can't afford it, and MORE.
God gives us the Holy Spirit to remind us of the promises in His Word, the Bible, when we NEED it the MOST.
When we die, our spirit will return to Jesus Christ, if we have asked Him into our heart.

If you are referring to the Holy Spirit, he is the counselor who helps us make decisions .. between right and wrong... guides us and strengthens us so we do not fall into sin...
