Hi, Does anyone know what the reference code 1301 means? I have been checking the IRS website and it was telling me that my return was being processed and I should receieve it my refund by 2/20. Well today is 2/21, and still no refund! So anyway, I cheked my status again this morning and it finally changed but it changed to "Your return is still be processed..." with a reference code of 1301. I called the IRS and they said that they aren't showing any errors, and that they couldn't give me a specific date I would receive it. She just said that I should have it within 6 weeks!! : ( Anyone else know what is going on or what code 1301 means?

No, I didn't file the EIC. I had a basic return with no credits or adjusments, plus H&R BLOCK online checked for errors before I submitted my return.

On of my friends had the same situation, the reason they are rechecking some tax returns is because of the Telephone Excise tax Credit that they are issuing. Even if you are claiming the standard credit they are still checking it. My friend was supposed to get her refund by the 28th of January and she finally got it this past Friday 2/16/07, they had no reason of holding it. And they gave no explanation either.

It sounds like you won't be getting your return for about 2 more weeks now. Almost everyone that has had similar codes has found out that their return is under review. One year when I got a code I called and they said that some info must of been input wrong so it had gone into some kind of error pile and had to get double checked. I agree with you that there should not of been any errors since you used H & R Block online and they guarantee it to be accurate--that's who we use as well. Sorry that happened to you. Maybe just call back in a few days and see if there has been any update on your status. Also---talking to a different agent may get you more info---some of them are just clueless or don't care about trying to be more helpful.

Normally the 1301 means that there is an error or questionable item on the return that is being reviewed (EIC, )
