He wasn't crazy, he misunderstood you.

You want to lift weights to tone and add density to your body, which will burn fat by raising your metabolism.

Lift very light weights and do a lot of reps. I lift 3-8 pounds (3-5 for upper body and 5-8 for lower body and abs) and I do 20 reps and 4 sets.

You have to do cardio to burn the fat. 30 minutes, with your heart rate elevated for 20. make sure you sweat.

I don't know where these gym dopes get all this nonsense.

1. 2 weeks is not enough time to build any significant muscle bulk. I suspect your percieved bulk was just that. Or perhaps you were retaining water or something.

2. If you wish to lose weight, any form of exercise that elevates your heart rate and keeps it there for a significant period of time is what you want. Running is best, bike or elliptical machines are close behind. 30 minutes a day is a bare minimum for general health. Its pretty hard to do too much of this. Every day if you can. Don't worry about 'rest days'. Reality has a way of inserting a rest day here and there, you don't need to schedule them.

3. Lifting weights IS a good thing for a lot of reasons, even though it has little or no impact on weight loss. Because of the differences in hormones, you will never look like a bodybuilder. The few women that do spend hours a day in the gym, and many of them cheat with male hormones. Doing one or two circuits of the weight machines 3 days a week after your cardio session would be optimum. Set the weight on each machine so you can do 12-14 reps before failure, i.e., you physically can't do one more rep. As for proper form while lifting, try to find someone there that has a clue. Obviously not the first dope you talked to.

Oh my..whoever told you that should be fired because if you are trying to loose weight you NEED cardio! Cardio and strength training are the key to loosing weight..it's just sticking to it. start off with three times a week..do the eliptical and bike one day..then mix it up get on the treadmill jog and the bike. The key is to mixing it up and changing the different muscles you work. In order to loose weight you have to get your heart rate going..so you need cardio. Lifting heavy weights is going to make you bulky! Start off lifting light weight...LIGHT TO LOOSE...that's what i've always been told. This will give your body definition and tone your muscles so they don't sag when you loose weight. Hope I helped!

Eat only when hungry. No more than three meals a day unless diabetic. Eat nourishing food with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables being part of it. Chew each morsel at least 32 times. This will activate signal to the brain as soon as u have had enough. Besides this change in eating style, take regular light exercises and brisk walks every day. U will be able to shed all extra weight gracefully and in a reasonable time span.

aloha!

girls can weigh lift without gaining muscles like men do. It takes 2 years for ladies to have well formed ones.

those body builders(the ladies in magazines) use steroids. thats why theirs is bulging :) fitted for that contest

Would you like a fun and free work out? Try walking. 1.) Its allover body workout... arms, legs and the rest of the body works.
2.) low impact, less injuries... perhaps non at all 3.) can be enjoyed with family and friends everyday 4.) your pace...

have an hour a day. 30minutes in the morning and 30 minutes in the evening... or 15mins in am... 15mins during break... 15minutes after lunch.

walking will tone your body... allover. it will tone your body without consuming much of your precious time. You can walk alone-meditative.

and when you watch tv... do squat and some dumb bell workouts for muscle toning and strength.

YOGA? lite... though it strengthens :)
