In a theatrical production I need to connect a video projector to a mac laptop over a 300' distance. I have seen it done before going VGA to composite to VGA. I know nothing about video cable. Does this sound right? Where would I buy such a thing? Would I need an amplifer?

i use rg59 but with copper breading this carries signal much better than rg6 and you just use component you know the reg green blue connectors you may need an amplifier just go to ccysc.com call them they know the answer to any cabling question and Scott is the expert on video feeds they can fix you up and cheap too!!!!

I'm not sure if they make an SVGA cable that long...And if they did, I'm not sure it would pass the signal that far...If you could CONVERT the signal into a COMPONENT feed it might work...But RG6 wouldn't do it at that distance...You would need to step it up to RG11...But you might your SVGA first...Who knows, it might work.

Here's a link to make your own Component cables (of course, ignore the RG6 and substitute RG11 instead): http://www.whydoesmyhometheatersuck.com/budgetcables.html
