That is a very good question. They are (all) the most immoral organisations to have graced the earth and the worst thing is that they are so contradictory in what they preach to others.

All these people claiming its the humans that are immoral are talking complete crap. The "bible" spreads hate, prejudice, murder, incest, abuse, etc, therefore that is immoral (along with these cults!)

Um, okay for all of you who are bashing the Catholics and their inquistion - I believe the questioner was referring other religions outside of Christianity. Such as where it states in the OT that the Jews were suppossed to stone people to death for breaking certain laws. Or even Pagan religions where people were tortured for being another faith.

And the only answer I can give is that humans are responsiblel for this behavior and humans only.

People have been brainwashed into believing that all this rubbish is the true word of God & then they convince themselves these sort of atrocities they commit are for God. Religion is just an excuse to persecute people who think differently.

Because most people forget who it was that was being stoned burned and tortured in the inquisitions. It was true Christianity that was declared by the catholic church to be heretics.

Because it is easily corrupted when put in a position of power (i.e. mixed with government) Or should I say, people are corrupted and in turn they corrupt the religion.
