she's having "fits" while she's awake and asleep she shakes, screams, becomes unresponsive, tightens all of her muscles, has difficulty forming words during the episodes (if she is responsive) and she becomes very tired when these fits are over. We've been to the nuerologist, her PCP, and the emergency room at the children's hospital. They still can't figure it out. Please answere if you have something genuine and helpful to say, we're going through enough w/o people's rude comments

This is a long shot, but seizures can be caused by Celiac Disease. Some people with CD have neurological manifestations such as seizures, though gastrointestinal symptoms are often more common. A patient does NOT need to posess gastro symptoms to be diagnosed with Celiac. Check www.celiac.com or www.glutenfreeforum.com. I know that at least one of our members on the forum had seizures prior to diagnosis, that was one of her main symptoms.

I've also seen a few Discovery Channel episodes on Celiac causing neurological problems such as seizures. Perhaps you could get a copy of those videos through the Discovery Channel website.

My son also had problems. Thinking back it became worse when he had a temperature or was over heated. He had lots of check ups and hospital stays. They just did not know thought that his head was a bit large so there were more checks on growth of head over the years. As a teenager he started passing out which was very scary then had a brain xray with a dye which showed some brain damage so they suggested not to have a career as a roofer! However he did not need medication just a quite calm life he studied and got his university degree with honours and now works as a professional at the top of his field in the mining industry not exactly on a roof but at times in precarious positions

the doctor must have ordered to have your child to undergo MRI, CT scan or brain scan. Maybe your child is having a damage or something in his brain. Seizures can simply develop if there is very high temperature or a patient has an epilepsy. Since your child is having seizures here are some interventions i can give you: Keep your child from harm, if his having a seizure provide her safety. keep away the things that might hurt him. Put padded tongue depressor in case he bites her tongue. note the duration of her seizure attack. dont panic in case of attack. By the way im a student taking up nursing.....
