i saw someone's question in regards to pagans still being around(albeit a very ignorant question from someone who's had little life experience it seems.) he said he's surprised that people still believe in multiple gods and believes that's primitive and can't understand why we all can't believe in one god. so my question is, how is believing in one god any better than believing in many? there's still a belief that some unseen, all-powerful being has the capacity to make or break us. it's all under the same blanket of thinking; just those with multiple gods express it differently.

hasse-pagans follow the same moral code as anyone else. that doesn't need to be written down in a bible. some branches do have a written set of beliefs though.

Have to admit, I really can't see the difference
between believing in multiple gods or one god.

There are profoundly silly things about all
religions - and certainly the number of
icons doesn't seem to make much
difference.

I'm not saying there aren't higher powers.
I don't know. I know I don't know. I am
one with that.

Militant agnostic: I don't know and neither
do you!

I hate to sound like I'm advertising my own belief system, but maybe something similar to pantheism would be a good match for you. I believe in some sort of supreme being, but it isn't some disembodied mind floating out in the universe somewhere. It IS the universe, realized as one unified whole rather than disparate chunks of matter and energy moving through a void. I believe that humans all help to constitute this "God," which I call Oneness, and through us (and any other conscious beings out there) it has a collective mind or awareness of itself. Oneness can be metaphorically realized as an all-powerful, omnipotent, perfect being, because it is everything, and thus constitutes all power, all perfection, and all beings. In my view, all spiritual/mystical traditions are "fingers pointing to the moon," and I blend both monotheistic and polytheistic elements into my spirituality, even though I don't believe that any deities literally exist, or that any supernatural phenomena are really possible. I'm not saying you should read about what I believe and then do that exactly. I'm just saying it's okay to blend different traditions into whatever you personally find spiritually and intellectually fulfilling. And I'm also offering the concept of Oneness (call it whatever you like) as a replacement for literal belief in God that elicits no skepticism, since you seem to WANT to believe in God, but are unable to. Hope I could help a little, or at least give you something to think about.

yes, if it's in the rule book and you are committed to following the rules, what can you do ?
The trinity is a good point, but it is 3 parts of the one entity.

How many are truly educated in the ways of their own religions ? Most just remember the catch-cries and the oft repeated sermons and parables, the simple parts that make a good story. A well educated, dedicated, devoted follower may believe in only one God, as their religion dictates, as their faith demands, but that would not preclude them from having the capacity to understand that those of a different faith could believe just as strongly in their multiple deities. even if they are wrong(jk).

Everyone thinks that they know all about God but no one does.

That never stops anyone from spouting off about their personal brand of ignorance of the subject.

define God.

the one Supreme being, ruler of the universe, master and lord of everything., the First and the Last.

how can these qualities fit to multiple beings? its illogical.

think of it like this: what is the lowest positive integer? is just "1", or is it 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and so on...?

There is no difference. Faith is faith~the belief in things unseen. No one can prove that their God(s) exist, so each person's belief is just as valid as the next.

Believing there is only one God is about as logical is believing there is only one person.

some people just can`t get it that there`s no 1 true religion...they try to convert and all they do is right and all you do is wrong....let them talk and live your way, in the end everyone is for oneself.

Because the ONE TRUE GOD has said Thou shall not have any other gods before him, Therefore when you think there is more then one, You went against God's word.
