I think kids can date as early as 12 if they want. As long as the parents have a handle on things and it is kept to a "just friends" date I don't see the problem. I knew kids, when I was growing up, that would have their parents escort them around and supervise them. The dates at that young of an age should not be serious though and parents closely monitor the date. At that age it is more of a friendly get together then anything real serious. I think dating at that age is a great way for kids to socialize and develop skills talking to the opposite sex.

I knew kids that would have a co-ed get together with friends. They would have a party where both boys and girls are invited, hang out at the mall , go to the show, get into a little trouble. That is fine as long as the parents are monitoring the party.

Kids shouldn't get serious about anyone till high school and later. Parents probally won't tolerate anything more then just a friendly encounter.

You should start dating when you feel you are ready to do so. I mean, going on a date doesn't mean it ends in sex right away, that would be a different story although it seems as thoug kids are feeling all to ready way to early for that these days. If you are a guy, just make sure you don't make some young girls whos got her whole life in front of her pregnant, and if you are a girl make sure not to get pregnant before you'r grown up enough for the responsibility.

take it easy, go by your own pace, don't rush things.

good luck

I am thinking probably 16 at the earliest. This of course depends on the maturity level of the person who wants to date and so for some it may be later.
