Religious Liberty (or freedom) means - You are allowed to choose whatever kind of faith you believed in and practice it. But, this does not gurrantee your freedom from harassment and insult. However, there is a pressing Religious Liberty issue today that must be resolved to attain this goal.

Religious freedom is one of the most prized liberties of any individual, society or nations, a fact that strikes some people as incongruous if they think of a society as secular. It implies a society in which religion and religious ideals are absent, and secular values alone govern daily conduct.

Religion is not absent from daily life in any society and cultures; rather, the Constitution of any particular nation or society has created a system in which each individual and religious group can enjoy the full freedom to worship, free not only from the rein of government but from pressures by other sects as well. This combination of religious diversity and religious freedom is a complex matter, and the path toward this ideal has not always been easy, nor is it free from conflict today. But democracy is a process, not a finished product, and liberty in all its forms is also in development.

The concept of religious freedom ( Liberty) is relatively recent in mankind's history. There have been societies that permitted some deviation from state-sanctioned and enforced official religion, but such toleration depended upon the whim of the majority or ruler, and could be withdrawn as easily as it had been given. Religious freedom requires, above all else, the divorce of a nation's religious life from its political institutions, and this separation of church and state, as it is called, is also of relatively recent vintage.

Religious Tolerance means - Acknowledging and supporting that individuals have the right and freedom to their own beliefs and related legitimate practices, without necessarily validating those beliefs or practices.

We must also take a look at the concepts of religious pluralism and religious diversity:

Religious Diversity - Is the concept that society includes and allows for a plurality of religious beliefs, movements, and expressions.

Religious Pluralism - is the theory that there are more than one or more than two kinds of ultimate reality and/or truth - and that therefore more than one religion can be said to have the truth (way to God, salvation, etcetera).

Acknowledging and allowing religious diversity is a necessary component of religious freedom and religious tolerance. However, in recent years, revisionist have attempted to subtly change the meaning of these concepts. As Charles Colson observes: in today's relativistic environment, pluralism no longer means tolerating competing ideas, but rather forced neutrality: no one should express any idea that could offend another. Pluralism is an affirmation of the validity of every religion, and the refusal to choose between them, and the rejection of world evangelism. We have yet also to proved the ugly side of tolerance as to the matter of being offensice without trying.

Religious liberty is the power of choice to practice any religion within specified limits and religious tolerance is to allow or grant permission others to practice religions that differ from or conflict with one`s own beliefs. The difference is that while someone is free to practice any set of beliefs others can practice without prohibition a diferent set of beliefs.

Religous Liberty: The freedom to worship, WHO, WHAT, & HOW you please. Religious Tolerance: Letting other people DO THE SAME. (without having to be P.C. and necessarily agreeing with them). Extra Note: All roads do not lead to God, and one should not have to say they do to be considered tolerant....theBerean

Yes, when a person of a religion does not get offended when asked a question about it tolerates other religions. This is my guess.
