Most truly educated atheists don't question his existence. We just don't believe in his divinity, because basically we don't believe in divinity at all.

perhaps it's different people saying it. and as far as i know there is no extra-biblical evidence of Jesus that directly mentions him except in Josephus's antiquities of the Jews which seem to be counterfeited and inserted at a later date. what is more telling than this a number of roman and Jewish historians wrote histories covering this era and part of the empire and do not mention Jesus. later references by Romans such as Pliny and Suetonius talk about Christians not Jesus and the words of thallus are only known through the christian apologist Julius africanus. no tax or census records mention Jesus.

Well - for the answerer above me - we have AD and BC because our calender was created by a Christian governed empire.
I don't contend that Jesus never existed. Nor that he had a family. There's enough right in the NT to show what is wrong without resorting to theroizing some ridiculous facts.

While I'd like to say that they are open minded, most are just saying it to get a response from believers.
Some on the other hand truly are open minded and will accept whatever the evidence has to say.
The majority of people really couldn't care less though.

I am an atheist and I never claim that jesus never existed. I think its very possible that he walked this earth once. I just don't believe that he was God's son because I don't think there is a God.

people are funny that way
The Romans kept tax records... and court records.
so did the Pharasies (i know i misspelled that)
Everyone can prove he EXISTED.
but the main fight is whether he was the son of god or not.
as for kids...... if the democrats and the republicans BOTH
had me killed .........
(or whatever the two strongest parties are during the times in question)
I sure hope my friends would hide my kids, and even grandkids
from people who wanted to harm them......
that is.... IF I EVEN HAD KIDS.
but if I did.... I'm sure they would have UNLISTED phone #s

People always look for a conspiracy theory.Even if you do not believe in Jesus' divinity,He definitely existed. Is there any evidence of Him having children? None at all.
