Hi SEAN R! If it's not an old joke!!!
Through smelling dog get all the information which her needed. If your dog can't smelling doesn't mean she can't learn.
The best way to teach any animal to perform an action is to catch them in the act of doing it and reward them. For example, if your dog sits down, you can reward her for sitting.
Your dog can teached, to find his leash, find Billy, or find the toy he left in the back yard , and herewith not have nose. Dogs it of bestial instincts and habits.

by using his tongue. certainly I dont think of something can scent and not using a nostril or the organ that enables scent. i could say cant scent. Now why does the canines no longer have a nostril?
