Doesn't make sense why alcohol was forbidden during Muhammad and not Abraham, it's because the Arab people (jahiliyah period) cannot control themself when drinking alcohol. It's ok to drink alcohol in moderate quantity but not excessive

Let me assume that you have asked this question out of genuine curiosity. I do not know whether Abraham drank or not, perhaps you have some evidence which points to it? Even if he did. Its very simple, if you can look at things from another angle.
In Islam, muslims were not people who only believe in the Quran but those who believed in God and His (original, uncorrupted) books and prophets since the begining of time. Also, religion was revealed in stages, so each time a new revelation brought new rules and regulations. In early Islam, drinking was not forbidden, but people were encouraged to consume less alcohol, the prohibition against alcohol came much later as a result of which all muslims threw away all alcohol that they possessed. Therefore, such rules could not be applied in the past when they were not revealed yet. And even if Abraham drank alcohol, he was not violating the rules of being a muslim.

Allah has permitted every beneficial thing and forbade from only the harmful. Drunk drivers not only cause nuisance to others, but also cause major accidents. Almost three fourth of accidents are caused by driving in the state of drunkenness. Apart from this, people get indulged in moral and sexual crimes when drunk. Holy prophet Muhammad has told a very interesting story. He said, there was a pious Muslim in the age of Moses. He was called by a sinful woman at her home on some pretext and was forced to do one of these sins. 1. Commit adultery with the woman 2. Kill a slave 3. Drink a glass of wine He thought the third was the most harmless sin. He was wrong. When he drunk wine, he killed the slave and raped the woman. Therefore, no sensible man will indulge in drinking wine. Muhammad Javed Iqbal

Abraham was born under the name Abram in the city of Ur in Babylonia(modern day Iraq) in the year 1948 from Creation (circa 1800 BCE). 2100years later Islam was born, therefore Abraham was not a Muslim.

Muslims are delusional. They try to make every hero Muslim and every convict a Christian jor a Jew.
This is not the fruit of education but the vapors of ignorance and dishonesty. They actually think we don't know any better and that they can convert us by saying that Mohammed was in the Bible, Judas died on the cross and Abraham was (really) a Muslim!

I agree with askmuslim. Provide your proof. Let me also state that every human being is a muslim. Islam is total sumbmission to the will of Allah (swt) and Islam was chosen by Allah (swt) for mankind. The only differenference is that there exist practicing and non-practicing Muslims.

Because you like alcohol...alcohol is good? Its well known the destruction that the consumption of alcohol causes....do we really need God to tell us to stay away from it? In fact the word "forbidden"(haram) is not actually used by God in the Quran when referring to alcohol. It says it has good and bad qualities but that the harm is more than the good and so we should stay away from it for the harmful aspects. Obviously alcohol in medicines etc are helpful qualities etc. Use your brain.
Islam means submission to the will of God. Abraham submitted himself to the will of God so he was a muslim. All prophets from God submitted themselves to the will of God and so were muslims...
Islam first and foremost means submission to God. If you submit yourself to God in accordance with Gods wishes then you are a muslim. In this case, the meaning is more a physical act then the name of a religion...eventually the word came to describe the religion itself. Abraham and all prophets submitted themselves to God...they were muslims. Maybe they drank alcohol...had a hundred wives....didnt pray 5 times a day or go perform Haj because those werent ordered by God to those prophets at that time....but they believed in only one God and submitted themselves to God and that made them muslims. Its not rocket science.

Many things were allowed in the past prohets times that were then banished when Mohammad come down. That is why he is the seal of the prophets. He brought down the complete religion and will have the most of all the prophets followers.
