Good: Filipinos see Lent as a time for repentance, confession and renewal. Devotions such as the stations of the cross, the Sacred Heart, church visitations, Easter vigil, processions, etc.

Bad: flagellants who reenact the crucifixion of Jesus, other acts of popular piety which border on fanaticism.

Have a blessed day!

Some good practices are they attend Mass on Ash Wednesday. On this day ashes from holy palms are placed on their foreheads in the form of the cross. The minister puts this on their foreheads saying, "Turn away from sin and live the gospel" or "Dust thou art and to dust thou shall return." They go to confession and ask God to forgive their sins. Then they try to live a better life. They wave holy palms on Palm Sunday in commemoration of Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem. They attend Church services to remember Jesus Death and Resurrection. On many days they go on processions to witness to their faith. They fast and abstain on Ash Wednesday and on Good Friday. They mortify or offer sacrifices to ask pardon for their sins and to prepare for Easter. They make retreats or recollections meditating on the Passion and Death of Christ. They make the Way of the Cross and accompmany Jesus in His Passion to discover more about Jesus love for us and to help identify themselves with Him.
